BHP Billiton Energy Coal South Africa (BECSA) confirmed that an incident near the Wolvekrans Colliery has resulted in the death of Thomas Goreya Leshaba, a contract employee. Mr Leshaba was performing duties on a rural road when he was struck by a utility vehicle. The incident has been reported to the relevant authorities and an investigation is underway. The Boschmanskrans pit has been shut down.
Thomas was 26 years old and leaves behind his parents. BECSA has conveyed its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
