Sustainable Development

Sustainable Development at BHP Billiton encompasses our commitment and policy towards health, safety, the environment and the community (HSEC). To ensure improved performance, we have set specific targets in these areas.

BHP Billiton gives A$500,000 to the Bushfire Appeal Fund in Victoria, Australia.

The Australian state of Victoria has been devastated in recent days by the worst bushfires in its history. Tragically, more than 170 lives have been lost, hundreds of homes destroyed and thousands of people left homeless.

This week, BHP Billiton committed A$500,000 to the Victorian Bushfire Relief Appeal. We will also match all personal donations through our employee Matched Giving Program. Many Australians will have friends and family who have been affected by these events and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

Our Awards

Through the BHP Billiton Health, Safety, Environment and Community Awards we recognise the initiatives and contribution of our people.
