Fatal Accident At Cannington Operation

It is with deep regret that BHP Billiton reports that a fatality has occurred today at the Cannington silver, lead and zinc operation in north-west Queensland.
The incident occurred underground just after 11am (Queensland time).
Authorities and local emergency services have been notified.
Cannington's underground mine operations have been stopped and the workforce is being briefed.
At this time the immediate priority for Cannington is to assist the deceased worker's family and our workforce. Counselling services are being made available.
